Welcome to Gils' galaxy
Based out of Indiana, my musical style comes from having played professionally and traveling to all corners of America. Performing in neighborhood bands to playing casinos in Las Vegas shows. After many years of roads life, I finally went home and back to school. After completing a degree in electronics and working for years in research at a major university, I left the university to write and produce my own music.
Working from a home studio, writing musical cues for film and TV, songwriter, a member of SAMI (a songwriter association), I also joined Taxi to keep working at new ideas.
To date, I have two solo CD releases and a third recording in association with a producer in Altanta, GA. The following details one of my CDs…
"Across the Sea"

Across the sea - song lyrics
Tall Ivans’ Girl
Where warriors ruled with steel in hand, blood drenched the ground, about,
Courageously the quest to raid, daring bold, no doubt,
Strong and sure, ships of war, conquer all in their domain,
One warrior stood above the rest, Tall Ivan was his name,
Tall Ivan had one tender part, brought out the boy inside,
A fearsome poet warrior, with a love he couldn’t hide,
Tall Ivans’ girl, a warrior too, had it all, she knew,
She also loved Tall Ivan, her heart pure and true,
Until that fateful day another tribal band did raid, to kill Tall Ivans’ girl,
Where warriors ruled with steel in hand, blood drenched the ground, about,
Courageously the quest to raid, daring bold, no doubt,
Oooo - oooh, Tall Ivans’ girl, oooo - oooh, Tall Ivans’ girl, Tall Ivans’ girl ...
Morimaru
Morimaru, Morimarusa, cold dead sea,
Ptolemy, Oceanus, Frisian Sea,
Brave of heart, ride wind and wave,
Tides do rise and fall, high and low,
Let the North Wind blow, let it blow,
Let the North Sea roll, to the shores of Aberdeen, Aberdeen,
Legends and myths appear in the mist, then vanish in the sea,
Life remains among the tales, passed down generations,
Brave of heart, ride wind and wave,
Tides do rise and fall, high and low,
Let the North Wind blow, let it blow,
Let the North Sea roll, to the shores of Aberdeen, Aberdeen,
Let the North Wind blow, let the North Sea roll, to the shores of Aberdeen ...
Stone Cold City
Down the street, in the pouring rain, city nights, call out your name,
Another chance, to survive the fray, morning light, shadow fades,
So we carry on, the narrow road,
Love is what we need to rise above, oh, oh-oh, oooh,
Love is what we need to rise above, from a stone cold city,
Stone by stone, these walls have grown, all the voices, we have known,
Yearning yet, to find a way, better life, another day,
So we carry on, the narrow road,
Love is what we need to rise above, oh, oh-oh, oooh,
Love is what we need to rise above, from a stone cold city,
The price may be demanding, the cost may be too high,
The dream of a lifetime, won’t come true, unless we try,
Stone cold streets, where no one can see, none can hear, this voice in me,
And so I run, all through the night, finding peace, dawns new light,
So we carry on, the narrow road,
Love is what we need to rise above, oh, oh-oh, oooh,
Love is what we need to rise above, from a stone cold city,
Love is what we need to rise above, oh, oh-oh, oooh,
To rise up, from a stone cold city, from a stone cold city ...
From Aberdeen
He came across the sea, from Aberdeen, to America, in the hope to find a better way,
Through World War II, he waded through the mud and blood, to be a citizen, opportunity,
My father told me I was born in a snowstorm, on a cold winter night, wind blowing all around,
His third American son, born in the land of the free, what he fought for we shouldn’t give away,
The hopes and dreams my father shared, for what that we might even dare today,
In honor of the names, those wounded, missing, or in graves,
If he were with us still, I’d like to know, the courage and fear, all the struggles of his life,
I know he drove a truck and wore a deputy's badge, stoic and sad, the wrath of war,
Not long ago, I managed fare to Scotland, to see Aberdeen, where my father was a boy,
The granite and the cold North Sea, he left to take a chance, what he fought for we shouldn’t give away,
The hopes and dreams my father shared, for what that we might even dare today,
In honor of the names, those wounded, missing, or in graves,
He came across the sea, from Aberdeen, to America, in the hope to find a better way ...
Sweet Summer Life
Catching crawdads in the Pleasant Run, my shoes off, steppin’ over stones, walkin’ in the mud,
Cool clear water, splashing up my jeans, oh I should’ve roll ‘em up, just a little bit more,
High rise handlebars, long white seat all scratched up from bumps, tricks, and falls,
Jumping Stairstep Hill, oh what a thrill,
To the flat board swings, hanging there on chains, oh I could fly,
Before the ages, grab hold of me, and take my sweet summer life, yeah,
Outside the fence back behind the swimming hole,
Old men would gather later in the day, horse shoes steel and clay,
Tossin’, clangin’, smackin’, wild bounces go astray, when the lights come on, it’s time to move along,
To the Gardens, sunken fountains dancing rhythmic tunes; changing colors, the lights would sing along,
Wide red bricks, weaving paths, rolling hills toward home,
But things change in the park, not long after dark, best be gone,
On a warm summer evening, all worn out from the day,
Passing by the Tabernacle on the way,
Front door flung wide open, music wailing, tambourines popping,
Spirits running high they’d be shouting; hey what’d they say?
There just across the street, sitting sideways on my seat,
Trying to take it in, amazed at all I hear and see,
Until it’s time to wander off for the next great adventure,
Imagining I have the key,
Before the ages, grab hold of me, and take my sweet summer life, yeah,
Sweet, sweet, innocent wanderer, yeah,
Sweet, sweet, curious wonderer, yeah,
Oooooooo, yeah, living for the sweet, sweet summer life, oh yeah, sweet summer life...
Deep Thing
Kind of crowded stuck in here like a fool, having done something dopey, dumb or uncool,
Oh, no… Just a prisoner, in this dark strange place, at the hands of a cruel soul,
Pounce upon me, lock me away, with half used rolls of wrapping,
Worthless hand me downs we save,
Imprisoned in a window seat, my captor in command,
Resistance may be futile, but one day I’ll make my stand,
Stuck in the deep thing, stuck in the deep thing,
Stuck in the deep thing, stuck in the deep thing,
Busting out, fighting back, making plans, you’ll see,
For now you have the upper hand, but one day I’ll be free, Can you dig it?
When nobody’s around, I climb back in on my own, check it out, no doubt, crazy, out of my mind,
Cope like a dope, out of sight, hide a light down deep in the corner, make it easy to find,
Next time shoved back in, won’t be in the dark, stark thoughts rambling,
With no rhyme or rhythm track, keep ticking, sweet music in my mind,
Pounce upon me, lock me away, with half used rolls of wrapping,
Worthless hand me downs we save,
Imprisoned in a window seat, my captor in command,
Resistance may be futile, but one day I’ll make my stand,
Stuck in the deep thing, stuck in the deep thing,
Stuck in the deep thing, stuck in the deep thing,
Busting out, fighting back, making plans, you’ll see,
For now you have the upper hand, but one day I’ll be free,
Stuck in the deep thing, stuck in the deep thing,
Stuck in the deep thing, stuck in the deep thing ...
Going Nowhere
I had a dream, but now it’s gone,
Not all it seems, two rights just came out wrong,
Must have got some bad advice, from someone who I thought was a friend,
Don’t seem to learn from old mistakes, poor decisions, choosing fakes,
Making like it’s better, but things just keep going nowhere, nowhere,
Now I am wiser, with new attitude,
Back in the running, with a brand new pair of shoes,
Getting close to something good, I can almost feel the heat,
Don’t seem to learn from old mistakes, poor decisions, choosing fakes,
Making like it’s better, but things just keep going nowhere, nowhere,
Bridge: I had a dream, now it’s gone,
I had a dream, but now it’s;
Gone, gone, gone, gone, gone, gone ... poor choices,
Don’t seem to learn from old mistakes, poor decisions, choosing fakes,
Making like it’s better, but things just keep going nowhere, nowhere,
Things just keep going nowhere ...
Bright Firefly lyrics by: Frederick Michaels
She hides behind, her veils of self-fulfillment, bright firefly, dancing all alone,
Though loathe to speak, her conversation’s brilliant, she plays guitar, but just when you’re not home,
If you look, you get lost in her eyes, the whole world just dissolves in her eyes, in her eyes,
She thinks of you but keeps her thoughts well-hidden, you see her use that look that goes right through,
She only comes around, whenever she is bidden, she only lies the lies, you believe are true,
If you look, you get lost in her eyes, the whole world just dissolves in her eyes,
... and she sees like a child, with her eyes open wide,
But she wants like a woman, who won’t be denied,
Whether skinny blue-jeaned, or decked out like a queen,
Or whatever lies between, she’s her own,
She shines at night, yet night is her concealment, the best of her will always be unknown,
She hides behind, her veils of self-fulfillment, bright firefly, dancing all alone,
If you look, you get lost in her eyes, the whole world just dissolves in her eyes,
You can’t see, you get lost in her eyes, you can’t see, you get lost in her eyes,
Oh, you can’t see, you get lost, in her eyes -- Bright firefly ...
From The Outside
Inside, flowers slowly turn brown, outside in the cool of day,
We sit alone, dream our lives away, texting with our friends, who we rarely see,
Inside this realm I feel alive today, better now that you are near,
Beyond my reach are many things, that I always wanted for my own,
So busy now, no dust can settle, while things keep moving ‘round and ‘round,
Sometimes I play my old guitar, from the outside, can you hear it?
On the outside, still trying to get in, on the inside, too many people,
On the outside, few chances to get in, on the inside, no one will pick up the phone,
Just leave a message at the tone,
Inside, curtains pulled, no light gets in, outside, in the heat of day,
We sit alone, dream our lives away, trending with our friends, who we rarely see,
Inside this realm I feel alive today, better now that you are near,
Beyond my reach are many things, that I always wanted for my own,
So busy now, no dust can settle, while things keep moving ‘round and ‘round,
Sometimes I play my old guitar, from the outside, can you hear it?
Hey now, can you hear me playing my guitar?
Hey now, can you hear it, from the outside?
Pebbles on the Pathway Home
Sea of field to the far horizon, hard to know, what it is, I’ve been looking for?
Eastern slopes, mountains reaching up so high, to a trail up on the ridge line,
Path of stone, broken fragments shattered, scattered all about,
Time wears away, edges all smooth and rounded, I find myself a pebble, eroding eternal rain,
Don’t stumble or tarry, lest we join our ancestors, walking on pebbles, on the pathway home,
Western slopes, break apart and fall away, great divided notions, flowing to the oceans,
The river winds to the gulf of California, where not one drop of water survives,
Path of stone, broken fragments shattered, scattered all about,
Time wears away, edges all smooth and rounded, I find myself a pebble, eroding eternal rain,
Don’t stumble or tarry, lest we join our ancestors, walking on pebbles, on the pathway home,
Busy people running first in line, trampling down the path, where the pebbles are the finest,
Upon the souls of honorable intention, those who remain, their joy cannot be found,
Path of stone, broken fragments shattered, scattered all about,
Time wears away, edges all smooth and rounded, I find myself a pebble, eroding eternal rain,
Don’t stumble or tarry, lest we join our ancestors, walking on pebbles, on the pathway home,
Pebbles on the pathway home, pebbles on the pathway home,
Pebbles on the pathway home, we’re all just pebbles on the pathway home!
{Spoken}
Time is relentless, yet difficult to measure,
These frail and fragile empires, built sound upon the stone,
On a clear night sky, come sit by me, where we can gaze, never ending,
We have just this one heart, so hold on my dear, love is everlasting,
Tomorrow dawn we rise again, let’s walk for just a little while ...
